Free Float Calculator

Calculate the percentage of shares available for public trading after excluding locked-in shares.

Formula:
Free Float = Total Shares − Insider − Govt − Locked Shares
Free Float % = Free Float / Total Shares × 100
Float Market Cap = Free Float × Share Price

Why Free Float Matters

Free float determines how easily a stock can be traded. Low float stocks are more volatile because fewer shares are available. Index providers like MSCI and S&P use free-float adjusted market caps for index weighting.
