About the 6-Minute Walk Test

The 6MWT is a submaximal exercise test used to assess functional exercise capacity. It's commonly used in pulmonary rehab, heart failure, and pre-surgical assessment. Patients walk as far as possible in 6 minutes on a flat, hard surface. Normal healthy adults typically walk 400-700 meters.
