How many bottles for your event?
A standard 750mL wine bottle contains 5 servings of 5 oz (150mL) each. For a dinner party: plan ½ bottle per person for a 2-hour dinner with food, ¾ bottle for a 3-4 hour event. A typical split: 40% red, 40% white, 20% rosé or sparkling — adjust seasonally (more white/rosé in summer, more red in winter). Temperature matters: whites at 7-10°C, reds at 15-18°C. Serve whites before reds, dry before sweet, light before full-bodied. For wine with food: match weight with weight (light wine with light food). A magnum (1.5L = 2 bottles) is more festive and actually ages better. Leftover opened wine keeps 3-5 days re-corked in the fridge (even reds — bring to temp before serving).
