Maximum safe doses for common local anesthetics.
Maximum doses are weight-based limits to prevent systemic toxicity (LAST). Bupivacaine has the highest cardiotoxicity risk. Adding epinephrine reduces systemic absorption, allowing higher doses. Always use the lowest effective concentration and volume. Have lipid emulsion (Intralipid 20%) available for LAST treatment.
