About LRINEC

The Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis (LRINEC) uses CRP, WBC, hemoglobin, sodium, creatinine, and glucose. A score ≥ 6 has a positive predictive value of 92% for necrotizing fasciitis. Scores ≥ 8 are strongly predictive and warrant urgent surgical consultation. Clinical suspicion should override a low LRINEC score.
