PISA Method

Flow Rate = 2π × r² × Va. EROA = Flow Rate / Peak MR Velocity. RVol = EROA × MR VTI. Severe MR: EROA ≥ 0.40 cm², RVol ≥ 60 mL. Moderate: EROA 0.20–0.39, RVol 30–59. The PISA method is the recommended quantitative approach for grading mitral regurgitation per ASE guidelines.
