Predict ventilator weaning success.
RSBI = RR / Vt (in liters). Measured during a spontaneous breathing trial (SBT). RSBI < 105 predicts successful extubation (sensitivity ~97%). RSBI ≥ 105 suggests weaning failure. Measured after 1–3 minutes on T-piece or minimal pressure support. The most widely used weaning predictor.
